Five Ideas for Family Fun

Even as states open, you are probably finding yourself choosing to remain at home more often than ever before.  The days, weeks, and months of isolating begin to feel long, and, at the same time, tempers can grow short. It’s time for some new ideas for family fun. Here are five ideas from Anne Arundel County podiatrists Dr. James M. McKee and Dr. Adam Weaver:

  1. Organize a scavenger hunt around the house. Add hard-to-find items like “armadillo” or “grandma’s bathrobe” to your list and award prizes for the most creative responses.

  2. Expand your board game thinking beyond Sorry and Monopoly. Many exciting new games have been released in recent years. Do a bit of research, check out the reviews, and order a new one for delivery to your home.

  3. Research a new recipe for dinner or dessert. Investigate how-to videos on YouTube and cook or bake something together.

  4. Some families are finding that the combination of warm weather and increased time at home makes this the moment to get a new pet. Of course, there is much to consider when adopting a puppy or kitten. Is this the right time for your family?

  5. Get outside and take a walk or a hike together. The fresh air and sunshine are always good for a mood boost, and the exercise will offer benefits to mental health along with bones, muscles, and the entire cardiovascular system.
